Vitamins to Help Get Pregnant
A reader wrote with a question about using vitamins to help her get pregnant. Are there fertility vitamins she can take to keep her ovaries healthy, to make her more fertile, and are there vitamins her husband can take to help her get pregnant?
Getting pregnant is both a simple and a complex process. Being as healthy as possible before and during the time you are planning or trying to get pregnant is of utmost importance. Your overall state of health and that of your partner are far more important than any vitamins you may be taking, although vitamins are certainly important. You need to know your ovulation cycel, and both of you should take precautionary basics such as getting regular exercise (keeping digestion and circulation healthy) and eating well. Smoking, drugs, alcohol and other unhealthy habits and substances will decrease your chances of a healthy pregnancy.
A regular multivitamin can help you remain healthy, and some supplements people claim to help get pregant include iron (to help prevent anemia, which is said to decrease your chances of getting pregnant); all essential vitamins including vitamin C and E; important mineralas such as zinc. Some claim supplements such as ginseng help with fertility, especially in men. Eat fresh, preferably organic, vegetables and fruits and get plenty of rest and exercise.
Your age will also play a part in how easy it is for you to get pregnant; taking fertility vitamins or supplements plays only a small part. If you are taking all measures to become pregnant and it hasn’t happened for many months, seek medical advice to rule out or address any causative factors that may be affecting your fertility.
