Arthritis & Inflammation: Are Cat’s Claw & Maca Root Better Than Glucosamine?
We’ve talked about glucosamine vs. chondroitin sulfate/chitin/chitosan before, in terms of preventing and reducing inflammation associated with joint pain, arthritis, etc. With the latest scientific studies showing that chronic inflammation is a precursor for a host of ailments from cancer to heart disease and stroke, the more we can choose consciously to prevent inflammation the better, in our opinion.
A new product combination is on the market, claiming to both improve the performance of glucosamine or chondroitin and to work better on its own as well. The product combines Cat’s Claw and Maca Root, and is said to both relieve inflammation and actually repair the cartilage in question, a claim which has been made about glucosamine as well. If Cat’s Claw and Maca Root can help, in combination, to repair joint tissue then this is indeed a breakthrough of importance. The painful inflammation and swelling of arthritis is a health challenge for many millions of people, and relief is welcomed, as is promise of prevention.
Zwell Reflexir®, a product with Cat’s Claw and Maca Root as the main medicinal ingredients geared to reducing inflammation and repairing joint tissue (in the knee, for instance, where osteoarthritis sees the slow loss of cartilage and subsequent inflammation from rubbing of bone tissue), claims to help decrease pain and increase joint mobility, actively suppress the inflammation process helping joints heal, and help to activate the rebuilding of cartilage and bone. These are, of course, large claims, and they offer free samples or discounted Zwell Reflexir® in many areas so you can try the product for yourself.
Cat’s Claw is extracted from the bark of the Cat’s Claw plant, or Uncaria Guianensis, and the Maca Root or Lepidium Meyenii Hypocotyls in Zwell Reflexir® is certified organic and is said to activate the master repair gene in the joint, IGF-1. In turn, reliance on painkillers and other anti-inflammatory agents is reduced.
