Digestive Cleansing Vitamins – Are They Healthy?

Posted by admin On April - 16 - 2009

There is much in the media and online these days about digestive cleansing. You’ll hear about people having colonics or colon cleansing, going on fasts or cleansing diets, performing enemas and other such activities.

Fans and practitioners of colon or digestive cleansing site the health benefits, which generally include claims of better and more thorough digestion, a flatter, less gassy belly, cleaner and thus presumably healthier insides, more energy, etc..

While we encourage you to both perform adequate research as well as to speak with your physician before beginning any cleansing ritual, we generally feel that digestive cleansing, when done in a healthy and safe manner as well as in moderation, is in fact good for overall health and wellbeing.

As with anything you ingest or partake in, some common sense is recommended. Consider the following when buying or looking into digestive cleansing vitmains or rituals:

Quality Ingredients

Digestive cleansing vitamins vary widely in their ingredients and in the quality of those ingredients. Some are medicinal and some are just fluff; some contain chemicals and some are all-natural and even organic. Some have the research of legitimate doctors and labs behind them, and others are pure garbage sold for profit alone, and can hurt you.

Do your research and look for reputable, recommended products. Avoid sales pitches with testimonials featuring only the first name, for instance, and look for the scientific or other qualifications behind those who produce the product. Get recommendations from friends and/or surf online forums to see what is popular, effective, and does not receive compaints of side effects or other issues.

Reputation

Whether the company provides all organic, high-quality foods and vitamins or is a reputable doctor-approved provider of vitmains and medications, stick with proven, reliable companies. Not only are you less likely to have side effects or ingest unwanted and unknown substances, you will also have the company to stand behind its products as well as answer any questions or concerns you might have.
